CLASSIC HOCKEY is a game that uses statistics to rate major professional and international teams over nearly a century of organized competition. Game play is based on team statistics, but an optional box score feature lets you create both team and individual player stats. Teams are rated on offensive and defensive strength, and comeback ability. Replay entire seasons or playoffs, or put together a field of all-time greats from over the years and determine the best ever.
Here's your chance to re-write history. What if ...
In 1986, Oilers defenseman Steve Smith had not cost his team the game by inadvertently shooting the puck into his own net in Game 7 of the Conference Final against Calgary? Would Edmonton claim a third consecutive Cup against Montreal and Patrick Roy in an alternate Final?
During the 1980 Olympic Medal Round Soviet coach Victor Tikhanov had not pulled legendary goalie Vladislav Tretiak after the first period against the United States in favor of Vladimir Myshkin? Could Tretiak have prevented the “Miracle on Ice”?
The answer to these and other questions awaits you. The game includes instructions, game charts, and score sheets. All you need to provide is a pencil and a pair of dice. Classic Hockey's flexible quick-play system allows you to determine final scores instantly or to play by periods. Optional rules such as "defensive struggles" or "season effects" provide additional detail and realism.
